Microsoft’s new feature “Recall” is aptly named since it’s a potential safety hazard!

Microsoft's new "Recall" feature promises to be a game-changer for finding that specific website you visited last week but can't remember the name. But there are some security concerns to consider.
Recall captures screenshots of your browsing activity for the past three months, stores those screenshots locally on your device, unfiltered. That means they might contain sensitive information like passwords or credit card numbers. If a hacker infects your device with malware, they could potentially steal a massive amount of your data in one fell swoop.
Microsoft allows you to opt out of Recall entirely, or to exclude specific websites or apps.
Here's how to turn it off:
Open the
Windows Security
app.
Click on
Device security
.
Select
Security features
.
Under
Recall
, toggle the switch to
Off
.
For More Granular Control:
Follow steps 1-3 above.
Click on
Manage Recall settings
.
Here you can choose to exclude specific apps or websites, or pause Recall entirely.
The Final Verdict
Recall is a powerful tool, but with great power comes great responsibility (and potential security risks). Consider your online habits and comfort level before enabling it. If you decide to use it, be mindful of the information you access online and keep your device well-protected with strong security software.
